BIDDEFORD, Maine --
Shelly Tremblay and
Kate Lindmark each scored a pair of goals to power the University of New England over Gordon College, 6-0, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey contest Saturday afternoon (Oct. 15) at Blue Bolt Field.
The Nor'easters (8-7) will now take a 5-0Â ledger into their conference regular-season finale next weekend versus 4-0 Endicott College. First, though, UNE gets a little rest and pays a visit to No.9 Babson College on Sunday.
The hosts controlled play from the start, but didn't break through until the 2nd period when Tremblay took a penalty corner insert from Lindmark and lofted a shot over the crowd in front in the 18th minute. Lindmark made it 2-0 at the half with a 26th-minute finish near the left post, after Madi Robtio collected a rebound in traffic off a shot from a corner chance.
Another corner produced UNE's third tally in the 42nd minute, as Tremblay notched her second off a feed from
Bailey Lynch.
The Nor'easters struck for two in the run of play during the 4th quarter. First,
Sarah Padellaro delivered in front on a short pass near the goal mouth from
Grace Bazin in the 47th minute, and then Bazin carried down the left side for a tough-angle, five-hole marker of her own in the 57th minute. Lindmark capped the day with a penalty stroke in the waning seconds.
UNE, which racked up a 28-1 advantage in total shots and 16-1 in corners, received one stop out of
Lindsay Pych in the 3rd frame.
Dawn DeWeese-Moss relieved Pych midway through the 4th to wrap up the shutout.
For the Fighting Scots (2-10, 0-4 CCC), Sophea Zaskoda recorded six saves.
