WENHAM, Mass. – Gordon College scored twice in the second half to earn a 3-1 victory over the University of New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer action on Tuesday evening.
Casey Torres put the Fighting Scots in front in the 6
th minute as he booted it to the top-left for his first goal of the season. The lead stood until the half.
In the 59
th minute,
Alex Woodworth converted on a cross from
Nick Reffel to tie the score for the Nor'easters. Just under two minutes later, Nathan Starzl found the ball in scrum in middle after a free kick and scored to put Gordon back in front. Benji Wright headed in a free kick off the foot of Starzl in the 79
th minute for the final goal.
The Fighting Scots outshot the Nor'easters on the night, 16-11.
Sean McCarthy made eight saves in the loss. Gunnar Lucuk had one save in the victory.
