BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Curry College turned in a 3-0 men's soccer result versus the University of New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match Saturday afternoon (Oct. 1) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
A score by Giovanni Martins put the Colonels (5-3-1, 1-2-0 CCC) ahead in the 37th minute, finishing off a pass from Ryan Brady. While possession total shots favored the visitors in the opening period (12-9), chances on target were on UNE's side (5-3).
Curry kept the pressure on in the 2nd half and added two more in the middle of the frame. Lucas Drons made it 2-0 in the 64th, collecting a feed from Declan Foley, spinning around a defender, and glancing a shot off another player up over the keeper. In the 69th, Drons carried to the end line and cut it back to Adam Pforr, who curled one away from the goalie around a defender.
Kyle Tremblay recorded eight saves over 80 minutes for the Colonels, and shared the clean sheet with Brendan Cunningham. On the day, Curry had a 27-15 edge in shot attempts and a 10-1 advantage in corners.
Triston O'Hagan logged eight stops between the pipes for the Nor'easters (0-9-2, 0-3-0 CCC), who entertain Colby College in their final non-conference outing of the season on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
