BRUNSWICK, Maine – Drake Byrd scored two goals to lead Bowdoin past the University of New England, 3-0, in non-conference men's soccer action at Pickard Field on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears (1-0) controlled play from the opening kick and outshot the Nor'easters 38-0 on the day. In the 15th minute, Byrd scored on a feed from Dylan Reid to put hosts in front 1-0.
 
Byrd added his second tally early in the second half with help from Ryan Houseman. Julian Juantorena found Minseo Bae in the 89th minute for the final goal.
 
A total of 18 of the Polar Bear shots were on goal and Nor'easter goalkeeper Triston O'Hagan made 15 saves on the day.
 
UNE (1-2) returns home on Saturday against Southern Maine at 1 p.m.
