WATERVILLE, Maine – Josh Rubin scored two first half goals for Colby College as it defeated the University of New England, 4-0, in a men's soccer tilt at Bill Alfond Field on Tuesday evening.
Rubin struck early for the Mules with a goal just 2:06 into action off an assist from Justin Lauer. Ethan Franco made it 2-0 in favor of Colby in the seventh minute. Rubin added his second of the night in the 27th minute as the hosts led 3-0 at halftime. Max Farner added a late second-half score for the final margin.
Shots favored Colby 23-7 overall and 13-5 on goal.
Sean McCarthy had three saves in the first half and
Triston O'Hagan stopped six in the second for the Nor'easters. Brendan McCarthy had five saves in the shutout.
UNE returns to campus on Saturday in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action against Wentworth for Homecoming Weekend. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
