Wildcats race past UNE in three sets

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Johnson & Wales University posted an attack percentage of .467 to top the University of New England, 3-0 (25-10, 25-10, 25-17), in women's volleyball action Friday night (Sep. 17) at the Wildcat Center.

JWU, which had gone 130-9 over the last four full seasons before not playing last year, improves to 3-2 in 2021. The Wildcats put down 44 kills against just nine errors in the flow of offense, and totaled 13 service aces, to fuel the result.

Peyton Oliver led the hosts with 15 points, largely behind eight kills and six aces. Tiah Scott had a team-high nine winners, and Masina Tupea went for eight more kills. Kyra Hissner and Savannah Cambell frame 14 assists each, while Samantha Senske and Emily Corbett tallied 10 digs apiece.

For the Nor'easters (2-5), Lauren Davenport and Viktoria Pavlyuk both registered six kills, and Addie Miller had 10 assists as well as six aces. Victoria Boutin collected seven digs.

UNE will stay in Rhode Island to take on Keene State College and Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday.
