BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College scored a goal in each half on its way to a 2-0 victory over the University of New England in women's soccer action at Pickard Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Jade Cromwell notched the first goal for the Polar Bears (3-1) at the 22:21 mark of the first half off an assist from Julia Adelmann. The Nor'easters (3-2) had a few corner kicks late in the half and nearly tied the game on a header by
Bella Reil that was turned away to keep the hosts in front 1-0 at the break.
Samaya Bernardo scored on a rebound in the 84th minute to put the game out of reach.
Bowdoin had 25 shots to just three for UNE and the margin was 17-3 on goal.
Sydney Gillingham made 15 saves. Penny Rocchio stopped three shots for the Polar Bears in a half of action while Alex Arndt was untested in net in the second half.
The Nor'easters open Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at Western New England on Saturday at 12 p.m.
