BIDDEFORD, Maine – Alec Szwarcewicz put in two goals as Bates College took down the University of New England, 6-0, a men's soccer clash at Barbara J. Hazard Field on Monday night.
The Bobcats (3-0) controlled play from the onset and outshot the Nor'easters 28-1 overall and 16-1 on goal on the night.
Szwarcewicz scored back-to-back goals in the opening 13:09 of the game to put Bates in front early. Owen Keleher tallied his third of the season in the 25th minute as the Bobcats led 3-0 at halftime.
Keleher found Tife Agunloye with a long pass to setup another goal to start the second half. Sam Assantha made it 5-0 with a penalty kick goal in the 69th minute. Ciaran Bardong setup Charlie Cronin for a marker with just over 90 seconds left to play.
Ethan Dispoto (36:43) and
Ollie Hammond (53:17) split time in net for UNE (1-4) and each made five stops. Bruce David had the lone save for Bates.
The Nor'easters are back in action at home on Wednesday night against UMaine Farmington at 7 p.m. Bates opens New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play on Saturday at home against Connecticut College.
