PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- After falling in the opening set and trailing late in both the 2nd and 3rd, Saint Michael's College pulled out a 3-1 women's volleyball decision (18-25, 26-24, 28-26, 25-18) against the University of New England on Saturday afternoon (Sep. 11) at Foley Gymnasium on the campus of Plymouth State University.
The Nor'easters were never behind in the 1st, and held leads of 19-15 and 24-21 in the middle frames. However, the Purple Knights responded to scratch out those set and used the momentum to hold the advantage nearly the entire way in the 4th. The scoring difference between the sides was just four points in the match, with the offensive gains only one apart (58-57).
For St. Mike's (1-2), Abby Gallagher notched 14 kills and 15 digs. Caroline Curley tacked on 10 winners and Sydney Krause guided the attack with 25 assists. On the back end, Aaliyah Huihui-Martinez was credited with 27 digs and Alexandra Baez Rentas had 15 more.
Lauren Davenport led all players with 17 kills and 19.5 points.
Viktoria Pavlyuk went for 14 kills and
Addie Miller put up 37 assists to go with 11 digs.
Victoria Boutin topped the squad with 21 digs on the defensive side.
