Curry turns back UNE, 14-4

MILTON, Mass. – Curry College defeated the University of New England, 14-4, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's lacrosse action at Walter M. Katz Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
Jack Dacey led the Colonels (3-3, 2-1 CCC) with five goals and an assist. Samuel Nielsen, Connor Bryant, and Jake Stebbins each added two scores in the victory. Sam Palmisano scored twice for UNE.
 
Curry took a 2-0 lead midway through the opening quarter as Bryant and Dacey helped the hosts build an early advantage. Palmisano cut the lead in half before a late Dacey goal gave the host a 3-1 edge after a quarter.
 
The host continued to inch away, building their largest lead of the first half at 7-2 with 4:53 to go in the second quarter following Dacey's third tally of the afternoon. Jordan White recorded the first of his UNE career with 1:58 remaining in the half to make it 7-3 at the break.
 
The Colonels outscored the Nor'easters 7-1 in the second half. Nielsen scored both of his goals in the final 5:40 of play. Palmisano had UNE's lone score of the final half.
 
Shots favored Curry 40-27 overall. Evan Falandys made 17 saves for the Colonels to earn his third win of the year. Kameron Bouvier (10) and Matt Deyette (5) combined for five stops in the loss.
 
Cole Ventimiglia recorded five of the Nor'easters' 10 caused turnovers on the afternoon. He also led the team with five ground balls. Sawyer Allen led all players with six ground balls.
 
UNE (0-1, 0-1 CCC) returns to action Wednesday at home against Western New England at 5 p.m.
