Davenport leads UNE sweep of RIC

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Lauren Davenport dialed up 16 kills and seven service aces as the University of New England cruised to a 3-0 victory (25-14, 25-18, 25-17) over Rhode Island College in women's volleyball action Saturday afternoon (Oct. 9) at Coach Beaudry's Court inside the Harold Alfond Forum.

The Nor'easters (7-10) amassed an attack percentage of .323, of which Davenport posted .400 on 35 swings. Viktoria Pavlyuk added seven kills, while Mia Martel put down five more and had a hand in three blocks. Addie Miller setup 32 assists, and Paige Weatherbee totaled 13 digs.

UNE was up by one (10-9) in the 1st before a 7-1 spurt padded the cushion. Davenport (3), Adryona Miller (2), and Rachel Possidento (1) recorded kills in the span.

The Nor'easters never trailed in the 2nd or 3rd sets. Davenport smashed a couple winners as part of a 6-0 run in the middle frame that made it 17-10. In the 3rd, UNE tallied seven points in a stretch of nine late to gain some separation (23-16), and Jane Richards finished things off with her first two kills of the season.

For the Anchorwomen (7-9), Amelia Murphy notched 11 kills and 16 digs. Aubrey St. Onge had a team-high 12 assists, and Wynter Conlon contributed 10 digs.

UNE will hit the road for the first time in six matches on Wednesday, traveling to Endicott College for a Commonwealth Coast Conference duel.
