Five different Nor’easters score in rout of UMF

BIDDEFORD, Maine Sam Barone and Lauren Beitler each had multi-goal games as the University of New England overtook the University of Maine Farmington, 7-0, in a non-conference women's soccer match at Hazard Field on Wednesday.
 
Barone also added a pair of assists and got the scoring started for the Nor'easters (7-3-1)in the 34th minute. Grace Wargo launched a long pass ahead to Barone, who sprinted past the defense a beat Beaver keeper Callie Hammer one-on-one. [Watch]
 
Five minutes later, Emma Christopher took a feed from Barone and buried it in the top corner to extend the advantage [Watch]. With just over a minute to play in the first half, Marie Hoehner tapped a short pass to Katie Rokes after a corner kick and she curled it in from long range as UNE led 3-0 at the break. [Watch]
 
Hoehner added another assist early in the half with a pass from just outside the center circle to Beitler who beat a charging keeper for her first in the 55th minute [Watch]. Caitlin Angers got in on the action in the 70th minute as a corner by Rokes was untouched through the box found her in front. [Watch]
 
Barone knocked a back-footed pass off another by Rokes to Beitler who scored to make it 6-0 in favor of UNE in the 76th minute [Watch]. Diefenbach controlled a turnover at midfield and slid it ahead to Barone for the final goal. [Watch].
 
Sydney Gillingham (2) and Claudia Kenneway (3) each played a half in goal and made five combined saves. Hammer had five saves in action for UMF (3-8-0) before Lily Souza took over in net for the final 30:12 and had four stops.
 
The Nor'easters visits Roger Williams for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) clash on Saturday at 12 p.m.
