BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Tori Keyes netted a 30-yard strike in the 59th minute to provide the University of New England women's soccer team with a 1-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) triumph over Nichols College on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 23) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

A punt from the Bison netminder was headed down by Jessy Shore to the feet of Keyes, who took a couple dribbles to get a clear look and launched a right-footed ball around the keeper and inside the right post [Watch]. Keyes now shares the team-lead in goals this season with four.

That was all the Nor'easter defense needed to record shutout number 10 on the year. UNE (10-5-1, 6-2-0 CCC) controlled the match to the tune of a 17-3 advantage in total shots, and registered all nine of the corner kicks. Sydney Gillingham needed to make just one save.

Adie Hughes made seven stops for Nichols (4-11-1, 0-8-0 CCC).

Prior to the game, the Nor'easters honored Shore and the rest of the Class of 2022: Erica Dimmick, Alyssa Boilard, Caroline Meuse, and Meredith Kennedy.

UNE will conclude the regular season at home on Tuesday (4 p.m.) against Salve Regina University (2-5-1 CCC). The Nor'easters currently stand in a three-way tie for second in the league standings with Western New England University and Gordon College -- three points back of Endicott College, and three ahead of Roger Williams University.
