BIDDEFORD, Maine -- In place of the annual awards ceremony hosted by the University of New England Athletics Department, we offer this virtual presentation from administrators and coaches, as well as a photo slideshow, to highlight and celebrate the 2019-20 academic year.

Kendra MacDonald, Field Hockey ~ James A. Beaudry Award
MacDonald has been a three-year starter for the field hockey team, and played in all 67 games for the program since arriving on campus. On top of being a two-time all-region performer and the sixth player in Nor'easter history to eclipse the 100-point plateau, she has been a two-year captain of the squad. MacDonald has also been a leader off-the-field, serving three years as an officer for UNE's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She was the President this past year and guided numerous service activities in the UNE community and beyond. Additionally, she held the secretary role for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) SAAC.

Meagan Accardi, Women's Ice Hockey ~
Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Accardi will graduate next month with a bachelor's degree health, wellness, and occupational studies, along with a minor in art therapy. In addition to being a Dean's List student in every semester, she has been a member of the Colonial Hockey Conference All-Academic Team and an inductee into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. Accardi is also part of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society and the Psi Chi Honor Society. She has been active with UNE's Pre-Occupational Therapy Club and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, while also serving as a Harold Alfond Forum building manager. Accardi will be staying at UNE for a master's degree in occupational therapy, starting later this year.
Ryan Bloom, Men's Ice Hockey ~
 Male Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Bloom is set to graduate with a bachelor's degree in neuroscience. A Dean's List student every semester, member of the CCC Academic All-Conference Team, and inductee into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society, he is also a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large First Team honoree, and was recognized as the 2019-20 CCC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Additionally, Bloom is active with UNE's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and served as a two-year captain for the hockey squad. He will be attending Tufts University School of Medicine in the coming months to begin towards a doctorate.
