Nor’easters storm through Husson to begin season, 20-2

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England men's lacrosse team rolled to a 20-2 victory over Husson to open the regular season at UNE Blue Bolt Field on Wednesday.
 
The Nor'easters scored the first four goals of the game before Gunner McAllister added one for the Eagles. It was all UNE from there as the hosts led 8-1 after a quarter. Garett Bozek scored three goals and assisted on another in the first.
 
Noah Luccini dished out four assists, each to a different Nor'easter as UNE extended it lead to 17-1 at halftime. Alex York assisted on goals by Bozek and Luccini in the second half and Dylan Jones added a man-up score in the closing minutes of the game to round out the Nor'easter scoring. Griffin Madore had the lone Husson goal in the second half.
 
UNE outshot Husson 55-11 overall and 40-5 on goal. The Nor'easters also grabbed 55 ground balls to just 26 for the Eagles. Jared Duffy grabbed five to lead the way.
 
Luccini finished with seven points on three goals and four assists. Bozek added four goals and an assist. York scored twice and dished out three assists. Zach Bossi (2g, 1a), Sam Palmisano (2g), and Andrew Loya (1g, 1a) also had multi-point outings.
 
Kyle Prior (11) and Bryan Wagg (9) each played a half in net for Husson and combined for 20 saves. Sam MacKenzie made the start and earned the victory with one save over the first 30 minutes. Jake Kampner had two stops in the third quarter. Kameron Bouvier was untested in the final frame.
 
UNE continues its six-game homestand to start the regular season on Saturday against Wheaton at 12 p.m.
