#10 Nor’easters storm past Golden Bears, 6-2

BIDDEFORD, Maine Jake Fuss and Tyler Seltenreich each had multi-goal games as #10 University of New England skated past Western New England, 6-2, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's ice hockey action at the Harold Alfond Forum on Saturday night.
 
The Nor'easters didn't waste any time with two quick goals by Fuss and Jeff Eppright to take a 2-0 lead just 2:45 into the contest. Fuss grabbed the puck a center ice and raced through the defense for the first goal [Watch]. Thirty seconds later a scramble in front of the net was put in by Eppright. [Watch]
 
UNE (16-4-3, 12-2-2 CCC) extended its lead to 3-0 early in the second period. Justin Dixson and Jimmy Elser fed it back to Ryan Burr on the blue line. Burr floated his shot just over the left shoulder of Golden Bears' goaltender Colten Lancaster for his sixth goal of the season [Watch].
 
Dom Blad put Western New England (3-18-2, 1-14-1 CCC) on the board as he scored on a two-on-one off a UNE turnover. Seltenreich returned the favor just 24 seconds later, intercepting a pass and scoring his first of the night. [Watch]
 
Corey Kennedy blocked a UNE shot and fed it ahead to Nolan Zweep for a goal in the opening minute of the third period to trim the deficit to 4-2. Alden Weller grabbed the rebound off his own shot and found Seltenreich front of the net for another goal [Watch]. Jake Fuss add his second with 11:00 remaining on a power play. [Watch]
 
The Nor'easters outshot the Golden Bears by a 51-16 margin. Lancaster had 45 stops for the visitors. Ben Churchfield made 14 saves for UNE.
 
UNE hosts Wentworth on Friday, Feb. 21 in its final home game of the regular season. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
