Sadie Nelson registered all of her 21 points from downtown as the University of New England cruised to a 78-45 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) triumph over Curry College in women's basketball action Tuesday evening (Feb. 11) at the Harold Alfond Forum.
The Nor'easters (17-5, 11-2 CCC) separated from the Colonels early on with nine in-a-row to gain a 13-4 edge after the opening quarter. UNE took full control with a 19-3 run that capped the 2nd frame (37-12), and then padded the spread up to 35 (47-12) with the initial 10 points of the 3rd.
While shooting 44 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes, the hosts limited Curry to just 18.5 percent accuracy and forced 11 turnovers.
Nelson canned a personal-best seven treys out of 12 attempts to pace the Nor'easters, and added four steals.
Jocelyn Chaput notched 10 points, a career-high 10 assists, and eight rebounds in support.
Ashley Coneys went for nine points with six boards, and
Kaylee Beyor supplied 13 points off the bench.
UNE, which now prepares for a road clash with Western New England University (12-2 CCC) on Saturday, amassed a 44-24 rebounding advantage and converted 14 offensive caroms into 17 second-chance points.
For the visitors (4-18, 2-11 CCC), Kathryn Dunn and Kaitlynn Smith recorded 13 and 12 points, respectively.
