WATERVILLE, Maine – The University of New England men's soccer team defeated Thomas 2-1 on the road Saturday afternoon for its first win on the young season.
 
Alex Gray gave the Nor'easters a 1-0 lead in the 14^th minute with his first goal of the season. Callum Heaslewood provided an assist on the score. The Terriers tied the game in the 22^nd minute on a penalty kick goal by Eric LaBrie.
 
Lee Esposito scored the game-winner in the 43^rd minute, his second of the season.
 
Camden Spear made five saves for UNE to pick up the victory in net. John Villanueva also had five stops for Thomas. Each team took eight shots in the opening half, but the Terriers held a 7-3 advantage in attempts in the second.
 
UNE returns to action on Tuesday afternoon at Bates at 4:30 p.m.
