LEWISTON, Maine – A first-half goal by Katie Beaudoin provided all the scoring the University of New England women's soccer team needed as it defeated Bates College, 1-0, on the road Sunday afternoon.
 
Beaudoin corralled a loose ball in the box and put it in the net to give the Nor'easters a lead in the 32nd minute.
 
Bates held a 19-7 advantage in shots, including 11-2 in the second half. Jenna Pannone was stellar in goal with eight saves to earn the shutout. Katherin Nuckols had three stops for the Bobcats.
 
UNE returns home to open Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday against Roger Williams at 12 p.m.
