BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England women's soccer team began the 2019 campaign with a 1-1 tie with Saint Joseph's on Friday night at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Nor'easters took the lead in the 47th minute.

UNE nearly opened a two-goal advantage in the 60th minute as a shot by
Peighton Barker caromed off the post and slowly rolled along the goal line. SJC keeper Adia Grogan was able to jump on the ball before any damage was done.
The Monks got the tying goal late as Emma Auclair put in a rebound up close in the 84th minute.
The Nor'easters outshot St. Joseph's 8-1 in the two overtime periods and 23-14 on the night.
Jenna Pannone made eight saves for UNE while Grogan added nine for the visitors.
UNE returns to action at home on Sunday afternoon against Berry (Ga.) at 2 p.m.
