BEVERLY, Mass. -- Top-seeded Endicott College hit three home runs to stay alive with an 8-0 decision (5 innings) versus second-seeded University of New England in Game 12 of the 2019 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Softball Championship on Saturday afternoon (May 4) at the EC Softball Complex.
After starting the day by handing No.4 Salve Regina University its second loss of the tournament (9-1 in 6 innings), the Gulls (31-5) stayed alive by sending the Nor'easters (26-15) to their first postseason setback. It sets up a winner-take-all Game 13 on Sunday beginning at 2 p.m.Â

Endicott's first five runs came from the long ball, beginning with a two-run shot by Adrianna Favreau in the bottom of the 1st frame. Hayley Arduini put one over the fence to lead off the 4th, and that was soon followed by a two-run homer from Olivia Odermatt.
Michaela Hamill picked her ninth pitching win for the Gulls, surrendering six hits and one hit-by-pitch over the five innings.
Jamie Hopgood, who had scored on Favreau's blast, made the margin 6-0 through four with a double. In the 5th, Lauren Misiaszek notched her second hit and scored on the second from Hannah Llewellyn, and Odermatt ended things with an RBI-single.
Hannah Baldyga led the UNE offense with two hits.
Sydnee Bessler took the loss, allowing seven hits and two walks in four innings of work.
