DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College men's lacrosse team defeated the University of New England, 18-11, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Vendetti Field on Saturday afternoon.
Hunter Ferreira led the Bison offense with four goals and six assists. Brendan Coates also netted four goals.
Nichols (9-6, 3-4 CCC) used six different goal scorers in the first quarter to open a 6-2 lead and extended it to 9-2 with 8:37 left to play in the opening half.
Jacob Vaneck and
Mitch Mullin scored back-to-back for UNE (7-9, 2-5 CCC) to close the gap to five, but the Nor'easters trailed 11-5 at halftime.
After falling behind 15-5 heading into the final 15 minutes, UNE outscored the Bison 6-3 in the fourth. Garret Bozek and Mullin each netted two goals for the Nor'easters.
Brian McKinley backstopped the Nichols victory with 16 saves.
Sam MacKenzie had eight stops for UNE.
The Nor'easters wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, April 24 at home against Endicott College at 7 p.m.
