Strong 4th nets UNE 9-7 win over Pilgrims

HENNIKER, N.H. -- The University of New England scored four unanswered during the initial seven minutes of the 4th quarter to regain the advantage on the way to a 9-7 men's lacrosse victory over New England College on Saturday afternoon (Mar. 23) at Melander Field.

Winners of four straight, the Nor'easters improve to 5-3 on the season. The Pilgrims fall back to 1-6 overall.

After tallying four in-a-row to take a 5-2 cushion in the latter stages of the 2nd period, UNE trailed 6-5 entering the last 15 minutes. Garett Bozek, Zach Bossi, and two man-up goals from Alex Zadworny shifted the visitors in front by the 8:21 mark of the final stanza.

Sam MacKenzie totaled 23 saves to backstop the decision for the Nor'easters. Zadworny topped the offense with five goals and eight points, while Bozek registered three scores and a couple assists. Spencer Hokanson helped at the face-off X, winning 10-of-16 draws.

Charles Hacking had three goals for NEC, and William Platt posted 15 saves.

UNE returns home to square off with Colby College on Tuesday (3 p.m.).
