UNE rallies from early deficit to defeat Emerson, 7-6

BOSTON, Mass. – The University of New England erased an early three-goal deficit on its way to a 7-6 victory over Emerson on Wednesday night. The Nor'easters have now won three straight games.
 
The teams found themselves tied 5-5 after three quarters of play. Alex Zadworny put the Nor'easters in front by one with 8:32 remaining. Tim Doyle Answered for Emerson to knot the game 6-6 with just over five minutes left.
 
Zadworny buried the game-winner, his fifth of the game, with the Nor'easters a man up. With the Lions threatening late, Ben Feintuck forced a turnover to give UNE possession as it held on for the win.
 
Emerson quickly jumped ahead 3-0 out of the gate and held that advantage after a quarter. Goals by Zadworny, Garett Bozek, and Zach Bossi tied the game at three with 6:40 left until halftime. Skyler Celotto added a late goal for the Lions to give the hosts a 4-3 advantage at the break.
 
Zadworny put in an unassisted score early in the third to tie the game once again. He added the go-ahead score with 35 seconds left. Jared Brush evened the game 5-5 in the closing seconds of the third.
 
Each team had 29 shots on the night. Malcolm McGrath made 17 saves for the Lions, while Sam Mackenzie earned the victory in net with 12 stops.
