BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Five players reached double figures as No.20 Nichols College built a 25-point halftime cushion on the way to an 83-61 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball decision against the University of New England on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 9) at the Harold Alfond Forum.
The nationally-ranked Bison (21-2) maintain their share of the top spot in the CCC standings at 13-1, heading into a road date versus Gordon College (13-1 CCC) on Wednesday. The Nor'easters (6-18, 4-11 CCC) have an equally-important contest the same evening at Wentworth Institute of Technology (5-9 CCC) to close out their regular-season slate.
Marcos Echevarria tossed in four treys before the intermission and wound up with a game-high 18 points for Nichols. DeAnte Bruton contributed 16 points, while Matt Morrow went for a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jerome Cunningham and Nate Tenaglia both notched 11 points; Cunningham added 12 boards and seven assists.

Ryan Beatty hit 4-of-8 triples to end with 17 points and seven rebounds.
Drew Patno had a career-best 15 points and registered his first double-double by grabbing 10 rebounds.
DeMarquez Hadnot tallied 12 points in support.
The visitors used their size advantage to out-shoot the Nor'easters, 46 percent (33-for-72) to 32 percent (20-of-63), and generated 24 points off 17 UNE turnovers.
The Bison closed the opened period on a 20-3 run to gain a 48-23 lead at the break. The hosts connected at just a 24 percent clip in the half.
