#11 Nor’easters roll through Becker, 6-1

WORCESTER, Mass. – Behind a hat trick from Brent Hill, #11 University of New England rolled to a 6-1 victory over Becker in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's ice hockey action on Friday evening.
 
Hill scored a goal in each period to complete the hat trick in just his second game in a Nor'easter uniform. He got things started at the 9:31 mark of the opening period on a score off assists from Ryan Bloom and Jake Fuss. Bloom scored a goal of his own just over three minutes later to give UNE a 2-0 lead. Jason Diamond cut the deficit in half for the Hawks with a tally late in the first.
 
The Nor'easters scored twice in each of the final two periods. Hill and Austin Morgan extended the margin to 4-1 with goals in the second. Tyler Seltenreich made it 5-1 early in the third. Hill finished the trick with a power play score off an assist from Derek Mecrones with 9:33 to play in regulation.
 
Bloom and Morgan recorded multi-point games with a goal and assist each. Collin Heinhold, Dimitris Jones, and Justin Dixson also added helpers in the victory.
 
UNE controlled offensive play all night and held a 64-19 margin in shots on goal. Cody Foster made an impressive 58 saves for Becker. Ben Churchfield had 18 stops to earn the win.
 
The Nor'easters open their home schedule tomorrow night against the Hawks at 7 p.m.
