Leopards halt UNE in straight sets

BOSTON -- Wentworth Institute of Technology secured a 3-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball decision (25-18, 25-20, 25-12) over the University of New England on Tuesday night (Oct. 8) at Tansey Gymnasium.

The Leopards (14-4, 3-1 CCC) won for the eighth consecutive outing, while snapping UNE's unbeaten run at 10 matches. The Nor'easters (12-2, 3-1 CCC) were off to their best 1-loss start in over 23 seasons, and had the longest streak of victories in that same span.

Leah Rogoz posted nine kills and 16 digs to lead Wentworth. Caroline Rupp also notched nine winners and Chaise Kakuk totaled 22 assists. Lexie Cambray added three service aces and 10 digs.

The visitors received six kills apiece from Paige Simoneau and Katie Flynn, and 17 assists out of Sydney Christiansen. Simoneau contributed a team-best 11 digs.

The Nor'easters will travel to Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Thursday.
