UNE downs Curry, 3-1

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England men's soccer team earned its first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory of the season on Tuesday night, 3-1, over Curry at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
 
The Colonels (2-11-1, 0-4-0 CCC) struck first on a long blast from Jonathan Caldwell that found the top-right corner of the net in the 7th minute. UNE (7-5-2, 1-3-0 CCC) would control play for the rest of the game, outshooting Curry 22-4 overall.
 
Colin Madigan got his head on a corner from Cam Twombly in the 31st minute to tie the score [Watch]. In the 40th minute, another corner by Twombly found Matt Ferguson on the near side. Ferguson touched it to Derek DeSantis who blasted it in from the top of the box to put UNE ahead 2-1. [Watch]
 
The Nor'easters added some insurance in the 60th minute on a goal from a tough angle by Brady Cyr. Cody Kennedy assisted on the final score. [Watch]
 
Jan Bacerra made six saves for the Colonels. Will Shearon had just one stop for UNE.
 
The Nor'easters return home on Saturday, Oct. 19 against Western New England at 12 p.m.
