UNE storms past Salve Regina, 5-1

NEWPORT, R.I. – Five different Nor'easters scored as the University of New England defeated Salve Regina, 5-1, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer action at Toppa Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
Katie Beaudoin put UNE (6-4-1, 1-2-0 CCC) in front in the 20th minute off an assist from Alyssa Boilard. Caroline Meuse found Kat Buscemi for her first goal of the season to extend the Nor'easter advantage to 2-0 in the 34th minute.
 
The Seahawks (7-7-0, 2-2-0 CCC) answered back just over three minutes later on a score by Molly Breslin. The Nor'easters took a 3-1 lead into halftime as Caroline Wilson scored in the 42nd minute.
 
Erica Dimmick and Jessie Maywalt each added tallies in the second half, both off assists by Ashley Sherman.
 
UNE dominated offensive play, outshooting Salve Regina 19-8 on the afternoon. Jenna Pannone made two saves in goal for the Nor'easters. Jenna Park had six saves for the hosts.
 
The Nor'easters are back in action at home on Tuesday, Oct. 15 against Curry at 4 p.m.
