Seahawks get past Nor’easters

NEWPORT, R.I. – Sam Winiarski scored two goals to help push the Salve Regina men's soccer team over the University of New England 3-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Toppa Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
In the 17th minute, Casey Kelly found Winiarski for a goal to give the Seahawks a 1-0 lead. Early in the second half, he scored on his own to extend the advantage to 2-0. Rich Ventura added a goal in the 51st minutes for the final margin.
 
Shots favored Salve Regina 17-8 overall and 11-0 on goal. Camden Spear made eight saves for the Nor'easters. Seth Wolins was untested in the shutout.
 
UNE returns to action at home on Tuesday, Oct. 15 against Curry at 6:30 p.m.
