BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Gordon College shot 69.4 percent from the field in the 1st half to build a 24-point cushion, on the way to a 110-90 men's basketball decision against the University of New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Thursday night (Jan. 3) at the Harold Alfond Forum.
Winners of 11 in-a-row, the Fighting Scots (12-1) move to 4-0 in CCC outings. The Nor'easters drop back to 3-9 overall and 1-2 in conference games.
Eric Demers led all scorers with 25 points, which included 20 behind four three-pointers in the opening period. He also ended with seven assists and seven steals. Noah Szilagyi canned 6-of-7 from deep to register 24 points with six rebounds and four steals. Parker Omslaer totaled 20 points without missing a shot down low, and Josh Crutchfield chipped in with 13. Garrisson Duvivier recorded a double-double in the 2nd half alone, and closed with 17 points, 17 rebounds, and nine helpers.
Gordon assisted on 31-of-39 baskets and out-scored its opponent by 15 at the charity stripe. The visitors also held a 41-29 advantage on the glass.

Alex Kravchuk went 8-of-11 from the floor to post 19 points.
Ryan Beatty added 17, while
Avery DeBrito and
Daron Hoges, Jr. contributed 12 and 10, respectively.
The Fighting Scots struck for the initial eight points of the evening and never looked back. Another 8-0 spurt pushed the gap into double digits for good (36-19), shortly before a 13-0 run put the margin up to 54-28. Crutchfield set the midway spread at 67-43 with a halfcourt buzzer-beater. While the Nor'easters connected on 51.5 percent of their shots in the frame, Gordon capitalized on 18 UNE turnovers by netting 31 points going the other way.
The hosts narrowed the deficit to 94-80 with 6:10 to go in the final stanza.
UNE heads for Western New England University on Saturday (3 p.m.).
