BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Western New England University built a 29-point halftime cushion behind 13-of-18 shooting from long distance, on the way to a 104-88 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball decision over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 26) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

The Golden Bears (8-12, 5-6 CCC) out-scored the Nor'easters (5-15, 3-8 CCC) by 21 from downtown during the opening period, as Alex Sikorski went 5-for-7 and Mike McGuire canned all three of his looks to pace the 65-36 lead.

Sikorski topped all scorers in the game with 21 points, and McGuire added 16. Mikey Pettway and Zachary Tavitian chipped in with 15 points apiece, and Nick DeGennaro had 11. Tim Reilly was the leading rebounder on the day with nine.

The visitors shot 61 percent (36-of-59) on their field-goal attempts in the match, as opposed to the 38 percent (29-for-76) of the home team.

UNE was guided by 17 points from Alex Kravchuk, with 14 more from both Daron Hoges, Jr. and Avery DeBrito. DeBrito also posted six steals and dished out five assists. Jackson McCoy totaled eight points and six rebounds prior to fouling out.

The Nor'easters battled in the 2nd half, posting 17 points off 17 WNEU turnovers and nine second-chance points from 10 offensive caroms. A 9-0 run down the stretch got things as close as 13 (90-77) with 3:15 to go.

UNE remains at home to face Curry College (0-10 CCC) on Wednesday.
