BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Endicott College canned 20-of-41 three-pointers in a 116-93 decision versus the University of New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action Wednesday night (Jan. 16) at the Harold Alfond Forum.
Keith Brown hit his first three looks from downtown on the way to 23 points, and grabbed 17 rebounds to help the Gulls (12-5, 5-3 CCC) secure a 49-36 advantage on the glass. Matt McDevitt contributed 20 points and Vinny Clifford drained 5-of-7 from deep to tally 19 points. Jordan Pettway, Joe Shehadi, and Nick Thibeault all recorded 12 points in support; both Pettway and Shehadi dished out seven assists.
For the Nor'easters (5-12, 3-5 CCC),
Alex Kravchuk went 10-of-10 at the line to post a game-best 24 points.
DeMarquez Hadnot tossed in another 21, and
Anthony Moynihan accounted for 12 in his UNE debut.
Daron Hoges, Jr. notched seven points with a team-high six boards.
Endicott raced out to a 7-0 edge and never looked back, then using a 13-2 stretch to move ahead, 30-14, before the midway mark of the period. Clifford supplied 10 of his 16 1st-half points during the run.
The margin stayed in double digits the rest of the way, settling on 61-42 at halftime. The Gulls connected on 63.6 percent (21-of-33) of their shots from the field in the session, and saw 12-of-21 from behind the arc splash through the net. Meanwhile, UNE made 12-of-39 attempts (31%) in the frame, and just 2-of-20 from distance.
For the match, EC out-scored the hosts by 11 outside the three-point line. UNE was plus-14 scoring from the charity stripe (26-12), and dialed up 20 points off 18 EC turnovers.
The Nor'easters resume play on Saturday (2 p.m.), hosting Roger Williams University (5-3 CCC).
