BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Bowdoin College got on the board in the waning minutes of the opening period, and added three more in the 2nd half, to register a 4-0 men's soccer triumph over the University of New England on Tuesday afternoon (Sep. 4) at Pickard Field.
The Polar Bears (1-0) out-shot the visiting squad by a 36-2 margin, putting 13 of those tries on-target. Four different players -- CJ Masterson (44th minute), Charlie Ward (59th), Drake Byrd (65th), and Moctar Niang (72nd) -- scored for the hosts, while Matty McColl assisted on every tally for a program single-game record.
Chris Kingston made a couple stops for Bowdoin during the initial frame, en route to the shutout.
For the Nor'easters (1-1),
Will Shearon totaled a personal-best nine saves in just over 82 minutes of work.
UNE returns to Biddeford and will entertain Thomas College on Saturday (3 p.m.).
