BRISTOL, R.I. – Peighton Barker and Vanessa Hodge scored goals on either side of halftime to bring the University of New England back for a 2-1 victory over Roger Williams University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Bayside Field.

The Nor'easters (3-3-1, 1-1 CCC) ended a six-game skid to the Hawks (2-6, 1-1 CCC) with the result. RWU had also taken the previous eight meetings on its home field.

The hosts went ahead in the 32nd minute on a goal by Maggie Hickey. A turnover off a goal kick led to UNE's first tally, as Barker launched a shot from just inside the box to the top-right corner of the net to knot the score 1-1.

Another turnover by Roger Williams led to the game-winner in the 55th minute. Barker made a tackle deep in Hawks territory and found Hodge right in front for an easy score. Hodge leads UNE and is second in the CCC with seven goals this season.

Jenna Pannone helped keep RWU in-check with eight saves, as the Nor'easters were out-shot by a 15-6 margin.

UNE returns to action on Wednesday afternoon at Bowdoin at 4 p.m.
