Nor'easters rally for 3-1 win over St. Joe's

CASTINE, Maine -- The University of New England women's volleyball squad overcame an early deficit on the way to a 3-1 victory (21-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-21) over Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Friday night (Aug. 31) inside of Smith Gymnasium on the campus of Maine Maritime Academy.

Molly Camelo led the Nor'easters (1-0) with 11 kills, and three others totaled five apiece -- Rene Roggenbuck, Sydney Christiansen, and Katie Flynn. Christiansen put up 25 assists to pace the attack, and Roggenbuck factored in three blocks. UNE received six additional points on service aces by Paige Simoneau. Defensively, Flynn went for 22 digs and Katie Marsh contributed 15 more.

The Monks (0-1) got eight winners from Kelsey Bickford and four aces by Erin Olson. Sarah Dyer registered 19 assists to go with 18 digs; Jennelle Thompson and Madison Provencher notched 17 and 13 digs, respectively.

UNE will take on the University of Southern Maine (10 a.m.) and the host Mariners (2 p.m.) in Saturday's action.
