BOSTON -- The University of New England flipped a three-goal deficit with a 31-minute surge, storming back for an 11-6 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's lacrosse victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology on Tuesday night (Apr. 24) at Sweeney Field.
Trailing 4-1 inside the last minute of the opening half, the Nor'easters (9-8, 4-4 CCC) registered 10 of the next 11 goals to overcome the Leopards (6-8, 1-7 CCC).
UNE not only secured its playoff berth with the result, but will now host fifth-seeded Salve Regina University in the opening round of the 2018 CCC Championship on Saturday. Face-off at the Big Blue Turf is 1:00 p.m.

UNE had a 25-15 edge in shot attempts during the opening 30 minutes, but 15 saves during that time from Scott Boucher had the hosts with a 4-2 cushion. The visitors nearly shutout WIT in the 3rd period, and got tallies from five different players to go up, 7-5.
Matt Layton supported the winning effort with 15-of-20 face-offs and a game-high eight ground balls.
Tyler Nevers posted 10 stops in goal.
Wentworth was paced by Dolan McCarthy with two goals. Boucher had 17 saves in 52:36 of action.
Saturday's contest between the Nor'easters and Seahawks will be the second in two weeks. On April 14 in Rhode Island, Big Blue came away with a 13-11 result.
