BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Garett Bozek netted a career-best six goals, including the go-ahead marker with 1:55 to go and an insurance score with 1:13 on the clock, as the University of New England held off Curry College for a 12-11 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's lacrosse victory on Wednesday afternoon (Apr. 18) at the Big Blue Turf.

The Nor'easters (8-6, 3-2 CCC) never trailed in the contest, but saw the Colonels (8-5, 3-3 CCC) rally from down 10-5 in the 4th period to knot things up with 5:45 remaining. The run by the visitors lasted just 4:09, with goals by five different players.

Curry fired off the next six shots, as well, but only one found the target and was saved. Play moved to the other end of the field, where UNE lost it, however a costly Colonels turnover set the hosts up for a quick restart directly behind their attacking cage. Alex Zadworny found Bozek alone in front to restore UNE's edge (11-10).

Bozek drew a Curry penalty on the goal, negating the ensuing face-off. Zadworny had a shot denied and Bozek grabbed the rebound, moments before dodging himself open to pad the lead.

The Colonels scored as the final buzzer sounded, but it was too little to stop UNE's sixth consecutive result in the series.

Zadworny notched three goals and three assists for the Nor'easters, who received one goal apiece from Tom Luttrell, Mitch Mullin, and Adam Race. Tyler Nevers ended with 16 saves, and Matt Layton collected a team-high eight ground balls.

For Curry, which finished on top of a 47-32 margin in shot attempts, Tom Cashin tallied three scores and one helper. MJ Urbano added a couple goals, and Devin Newell provided three assists. Zach White won 13-of-21 face-offs and scooped up 13 ground balls, while Josh Teller totaled 13 saves.

UNE is back in action Saturday (1 p.m.), hosting Nichols College for a league match.
