BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Shawn Daly, Donal Mullane, and Jeff Powers each scored three times and Bowdoin College led by nine after the 1st quarter on the way to a 21-5 men's lacrosse win over the University of New England on Tuesday night (Mar. 20) at Whittier Field.
Daly, who also dished out a team-high three assists for the Polar Bears (3-2), was the the only multiple goal-scorer during the opening frame as the hosts jumped out to a 10-1 cushion. Bowdoin received a contribution of two goals from Daniel Buckman, and a combined 17-of-22 face-off performance out of Sam Carlin and Pat Broughton.
For the Nor'easters (4-2),
Garett Bozek had two goals and
Alex Zadworny went for a goal and two assists.
Tom Luttrell and
Donovan Connor recorded one goal apiece.
Matt Layton finished with 10 face-off wins and a team-high five ground balls.
Both starting goalkeepers logged 45 minutes -- John Young totaled five stops for the Polar Bears, and
Tyler Nevers made 14 saves for UNE.
Big Blue will have a week off before heading to Colby College next Tuesday (6 p.m.).
