BIDDEFORD, Maine – The eighth-ranked University of New England men's hockey team picked up a 7-0 victory over Western New England University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Harold Alfond Forum on Friday night.
Tyler Seltenreich provided a power-play goal for the Nor'easters in the first period as he put back his own rebound from close range.
Aaron Aragon extended the UNE lead to 3-0 with his first two career goals in the second period.
Jeff Eppright added a power-play score later in the frame to give the Nor'easters a 4-0 lead through two.
After dishing out two assists earlier in the game,
Ryan Bloom got in on the action with his second goal of the season to start the third.
Liam Darcy and
Liam Neuman each added goals in the period.
Brady Fleurent had two assists on the night. Eppright and Darcy had two points each.
The teams combined for 81 penalty minutes and UNE scored on two of their extra-man opportunities while holding the Golden Bears scoreless on eight power-play chances.
Ben Churchfield stopped 23 shots to earn his second shutout of the year. Kevin Gollmer made 36 saves for the visitors.
Both teams return to action tomorrow night at Olympia Ice Center in West Springfield, Mass. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
