Fighting Scots top UNE in straight sets

WENHAM, Mass. -- Mackenzie Hinds tallied 14 kills to lead Gordon College in a 3-0 women's volleyball result (25-18, 25-19, 25-19) against the University of New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Tuesday night (Oct. 9) at the Bennett Athletic Center.

Supporting Hinds and the Fighting Scots (10-9, 2-3 CCC) was Amanda Snyder with eight winners, and Jacque Fitzgerald added the same by way of a .667 attack percentage. Ashlyn Gergins had 32 assists and dropped in three service aces. Jenny Curtiss and Jessie Nason combined for 28 digs.

The Nor'easters (6-13, 1-3 CCC) received seven kills from Katie Flynn and six more out of Sydney Christiansen, who posted a double-double of 19 assists and 12 digs. Katie Marsh paced the back-line effort with a match-best 18 digs; Flynn and Molly Camelo each contributed another 10.

UNE returns home to face Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Thursday (6 p.m.).
