BIDDEFORD, Maine – Ian Lee knocked in a shot from the top of the box in the 89th minute to lead Husson University past the University of New England, 3-2, in men's soccer action at Barbara J. Hazard Field on Tuesday evening.
The winning goal came just after UNE knotted the game on a score by
Cam Twombly in the 84th minute.
Cody Kennedy blasted a long pass into the box that found the head of Twombly in traffic.
Husson took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute on a goal by Rod Ghanayem. UNE quickly answered as
Colin Madigan made a heel pass to
Tanner Figueiredo who finished from close range. The Eagles jumped back in front in the 27th minute as a long kick by goalkeeper Kyle Townsend found Paxton Oversmith in front of the defense for an easy tally.
The Nor'easters (4-9) held a 17-12 advantage in shots and 8-5 on goal.
Will Shearon made two saves. Townsend stopped six shots for the Eagles (5-8-1).
UNE returns to the field on Saturday, Oct. 13 against Nichols in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
