Gordon bumps UNE from CCC tourney

WENHAM, Mass. – Third-seeded Gordon College defeated No.6 University of New England, 2-0, as the 2018 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Soccer Championship began on Sunday (Oct. 28) at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

The Fighting Scots (10-6-1) move on to meet Salve Regina University (a 1-0 winner over No.7 Nichols) in the league semifinals on Wednesday. [Interactive Bracket]

Gordon, which held a 13-4 advantage in shots on the evening, received both scores in the opening half. Noah Craig put the hosts in front in the 17th minute, and Tyler Modzeleski made it 2-0 in favor of the Fighting Scots in the 34th minute off a feed from Josh Beveridge.

Wesley Sprague and Brody Velber combined for three saves in the shutout decision, while Nathan Delsedernier made six stops for the Nor'easters.

UNE closes the season with a record of 6-12.
