Nor'easters snag playoff spot with 3-0 win over Curry

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Katie Flynn and Molly Camelo each registered 12 kills to lead the University of New England women's volleyball team in a 3-0 sweep (25-21, 25-16, 25-13) of Curry College on in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Tuesday night (Oct. 23) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

The result puts the Nor'easters (9-16, 2-5 CCC) into the upcoming CCC Championship ahead of the Colonels (7-16, 1-6 CCC), now with possession of the head-to-head and only one contest remaining in the league schedule.

Flynn notched a match-best 15 points by adding three service aces, and Camelo posted an attack percentage of .600 to go with eight digs. Rene Roggenbuck contributed eight winners for UNE, while Paige Simoneau tallied seven kills along with three aces. Sydney Christiansen pushed up 40 assists to steer the offense and Katie Marsh totaled 19 digs on defense.

For Curry, Lexi Pereira had 12 kills and Alexis Bell recorded 20 assists. On the back line, Shea Mathews and Amanda Anderson combined for 21 digs.

The Nor'easters head to Saint Joseph's College of Maine for a non-conference duel on Thursday (6 p.m.).
