WENHAM, Mass. -- The University of New England field hockey squad struck for five goals during the opening 35 minutes and recorded a 5-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory over Gordon College on Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 23) at the Brigham Complex.
With the win, the Nor'easters (11-8, 10-1 CCC) supplied 6th-year head coach
Danielle Collins with her 100th career triumph (137 games).
Kersey Boulay opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a penalty stroke, before then setting up
Kendra MacDonald in the 13th minute.
Julia Steeves bumped it to 3-0 just 49 seconds later.
MacDonald registered her team-leading 16th goal of the season off a feed from
Nicole Grady in the 26th minute.
Reanna Boulay got into the act in the 34th minute, converting a pass from
Brooke Lemerise.
Liz Sargent needed to make three saves for her third shutout. UNE out-shot the Fighting Scots by a 17-4 margin, and held a 14-2 cushion in penalty corners.
For Gordon (5-14, 1-10 CCC), Jasmine Rosa posted 10 stops.
The Nor'easters visit Endicott College (10-0 CCC) in the regular-season finale on Saturday (1 p.m.).
