BIDDEFORD, Maine – A goal in the fourth minute by Callum Heaslewood was all the University of New England needed as it picked up a 1-0 men's soccer victory over the University of Southern Maine at UNE Blue Storm Stadium on Monday night.
 
Dan Good found himself covered by two Huskies just inside the box and passed back to Cody Kennedy. Kennedy blasted a perfect pass through the defense to Heaslewood in front of the net for the goal [Watch]. Heaslewood has scored the winner in each of the last two games.
 
Good nearly extended the lead midway through the second half, but his shot caromed off the post and out of play.
 
Will Shearon made two saves on the night, none more important than a diving stop on a one-on-one in the 82^nd minute to preserve the shutout.
 
UNE returns to the field on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at home against UMaine Farmington. Game time at Barbara J. Hazard field is set for 6:30 p.m.
