BIDDEFORD, Maine --
Olivia Shaw and
Ashley Coneys combined for 35 points as the University of New England topped Endicott College, 66-63, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball match on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 20) at the Harold Alfond Forum.
The league-leading Nor'easters (12-3, 8-1 CCC) emerged from one early tie and never relinquished the advantage the rest of the way. Things were in single digits throughout the first half, and then a 20-12 3rd quarter bumped the gap to 10 (48-38). The margin peaked at 13 (63-50) with 1:19 to go.
Shaw registered a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Coneys notched 17 points.
Sam MacDonald totaled 13 points and nine boards. UNE had a 10-point advantage at the line, in spite of only going 21-for-35 during the contest.
The Gulls (8-8, 6-4 CCC) received a game-high 22 points out of Cassandra Stapelfeld, and 12 from Kaleigh Putnam. Hannah Kiernan posted a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds.
The Nor'easters are scheduled to visit Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Monday (6 p.m.) for their last non-conference tilt.
