King's rallies to best UNE in four sets

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Katelyn Shifflett racked up 21 kills to lead King's College (Pa.) to a 3-1 women's volleyball win (19-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-15) over the University of New England on Friday evening (Sep. 8) at the Vassar College Invitational.

Shifflett posted an attack percentage of .459 to pace the Lady Monarchs (5-1), who got double-doubles from both Jill Korgeski (11 kills, 12 digs) and Rachel Miller (11 kills, 10 digs). Julie Kollar had a match-best 16 digs, and Maddie Kumm guided the offensive effort with 41 assists.

For the Nor'easters (1-4), Rene Roggenbuck totaled nine kills and factored in eight blocks (6 solo). Kristen Falcinelli and Sydney Christiansen combined for 21 assists, while defensively, Kacie Flahive picked up 12 digs to go with a team-high three service aces.

UNE will face the tournament hosts (11 a.m.) and Medaille College (1 p.m.) on Saturday.
