MILTON, Mass. – In the inaugural pre-varsity contest for the University of New England football team, the Nor'easters fell to the Curry College JV-squad by a score of 36-30 on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 3) at Walter M. Katz Field.

UNE is scheduled to play a season's worth of games against collegiate junior varsity programs and prep schools prior to starting its full varsity schedule and membership in Commonwealth Coast Football in 2018.

The Nor'easters -- who trailed 16-15 at the half -- put up 315 yards of total offense against the Colonels, with 222 coming through the air.

Under center, Brian Peters completed 10-of-22 pass attempts for 119 yards, while Peyton Phillips went 6-for-9 for 35 yards and twice connected with Haelin Roberts (4 catches, 41 yards) for a touchdown. Nick Granata tossed for 33 yards and led UNE on the ground, too, totaling 39 yards and a touchdown in just two rushes. Jack Mahoney got the majority of the carries with 12, for 17 yards, and also scored once. Danny Parker accumulated 58 yards of offense -- rushing for 31 and 27 of receiving (team-high 5 catches). Austin Dutremble and Ryan Gaboury combined for eight catches and 100 yards (53 and 47, respectively).

On defense, D'Andre James led the way with 10 tackles and Nick Scarfo contributed nine. Mitchell Hennings filled the box score with five tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble on the day.

The Nor'easters are back in action Sunday (1 p.m.) when they travel up to Bangor to take on the JV squad at Husson University.
