BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Bowdoin College recorded a goal in each half to secure a 2-0 women's soccer result against the University of New England on Tuesday night (Sep. 26) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

The Polar Bears (3-2-1) received a 32nd-minute goal by Lynn Farquhar to gain the advantage on the scoreboard. The Nor'easters (5-4) nearly leveled things late in the opening period, but a one-timed shot from inside the box ricocheted off the crossbar.

Bowdoin applied most of the pressure in the 2nd half, and added an insurance goal off the foot of Emily Pawlak in the 86th minute.

Rachel Stout earned the shutout without having to make a save for the visitors, who finished on top of a 23-4 disparity in shots.

Emily Ashman turned in a career-best 13 saves for UNE, which will get back to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday against Roger Williams University (2:30 p.m.).
